Rural setting offers perfect hiding spots

You could flood it with as many officers as you wanted and still not find him.' Phillips may be in McKean County, where an attempted break-in at a pharmacy in Eldred early Tuesday morning has residents on alert. Last week, Pennsylvania State Police arrested a Ludlow, Pa., man who is accused of aiding Phillips. Phillips, 44, is accused of shooting three state troopers -- one fatally -- since he escaped in April from the Erie County Correctional Facility in Alden. He is also a suspect in a gun shop burglary where 41 weapons were stolen in Ellington in Chautauqua County.
