Anyone try the Vortex Sparc?
Well Vortex have come out with a budget (cheap?(?)) version of the micro red dot, the SPARC. I read a pretty positive review on ARFCOM but wanted to know if anyone here has any experience with this little gal. Fuck, I’ll take hearsay too about the SPARC or Vortex in general.

After two weeks of consideration, the Michigan House Judiciary Committee today passed House Bill 5225 as amended; important and long-overdue legislation that would eliminate the state handgun “permit-to-purchase” and registration requirements. This committee also approved House Bill 5498, sponsored by state Representative Richard LeBlanc (D-18), and House Bill 5499, sponsored by state Representative Ray Franz (R-101). All three bills were supported by the Republican members of this House committee and not a single Democrat voted to support any of them. All three bills now go to the full House for a vote.

If you install them with sharp against sharp edges, could cause some problems with the Scope Rings not alone to self adjust each other, and could have been the reason that the Scope Rings wore out so quickly. Of if installed round side to the back of the bolt, can get a bit more blow by as well, causing the Scope Rings to burn up faster as well. I put the two rear ones as you say, but the front one the other way. This way no sharp edges touch each other, and the front one also scrapes , and keeps out carbon from the group of three. (For a demo on a building class, we picked a guy up in one by the netting) I apply a dab to random knot points in the netting across the base garment. (See second pic, you should be able to see glue points) Some have opted to sew on the netting for added piece of mind, in addition. I prefer to strip bulap down to individual strands as above as well, then tie in groups. Using the netting as such allows for easy repairs, color changes, etc… The smaller squares in the first pic are fine for a stand alone Ghillie Suit . However, it’s more of a PITA when inserting vegetation to use the Ghillie Suit to more of its potential. In the lower pic, I used netting with larger squares (a cheap hammock from the PX). As far as flight suits/one-piece-suits, I don’t like them. They’re nut crushers if you do much low-crawling. One I started, and yet to finish. mcnielsen

I can also add that the handguard on the Pred has had some weight shaved out of it and yes, it is longer. In my experience, there were many requests for the longer handguard to give one more rail room and to accomidate newer shooting styles.
The Pred is less expensive. You can save some scratch towards the purchase of a quality optic.
Lastly, having shot and handled both, the Pred feels like a toy compared to the OBR. Unless you are planning on doing precision shooting or running a suppressor, the Pred is a great choice for your first rifle.

US Troops Tread Carefully Amid Korea Tensions

BTW, I had to turn each adjustment knob almost 1 1/2 turns to sight it in. Is that unusual?
Do not take off your battery compartment when the sight is still on….
what distance are you sighting in…making that kind of adjustment to sight in an optic is not unusual.
I thought I did turn it off, but I could easily be wrong about that. I did not know about this issue so I was not paying close attention.
I had planned to sight it in at 100 yards, but I did not get that chance before taking it to a local pumpkin shoot with the WA group this weekend. I quickly discovered that I was not hitting anything with it, and could see bullet impacts high-right, so I set up a target stand at about 15 yards to test it. Sure enough, the POI was about 3-4 inches high and to the right. I’m just guessing about that as I threw the target away immediately after getting a rough sight in at that distance. After that I was getting consistant hits on small pumpkins out to about 75-80 yards. Many o’ punkin got vaporized that day! I plan to do an accurate sight in at the next opportunity.
The reason I was surprised is that EOTechs are supposed to be bore sighted at the factory, and my carry handle sight is dead on at 200 yards with the aperture at mechanical zero.

Actually, I really did want an ACOG. I have some minor vision problems with dot type sights that don’t occur with ACOGs, but after debating the cost versus the benefits I decided that the additional expense was not worth it for me.

When used on my AR10 with standard 150 gr loads I get full function with it about half way open. When set to closed it is completely closed. I used 17-4 stainless for the construction. As others have said, puts the brass in a neat pile a few feet away with noticeably less/smother recoil. SICARIO

I have read a lot of opinions, but some seem to conflict, particularly the Fulton-LRB feuding on some forums. I would like to avoid any feuding, but facts are more than welcome. LRB is supposedly the “best” as they are forged. Plus, their M25 integral rail is very cool and appears better than the Brookfield mount and knockoffs. Fulton has the best website, but actually uses their own Armscorp Receivers, but they have a “CMP” deal. 7.62mm I have read little about, also has a “CMP” deal. Smith Ent.- Expensive, haven’t read anything about them. Smith seems to have an excellent reputation though on the rest of their parts. Thanks for the assistance and edumacation. Here’s my .02 Just because a receiver is forged doesn’t mean it’s any good or is the best. 762mm firearms forged receivers are a perfect example. LRB= 1 year warranty versus lifetime for all other makers. Not made to USGI specs. Still has some problems, one of which is a shorter than spec. bridge & doesn’t have proper firing pin retraction. Receiver lug location to far forward on some receivers which is only good for non chrome lined barrels (tho some builders are moving the receiver lugs back so they headspace for chrome lined barrels). New in wrap bolts won’t close on some new receivers requiring major fitting. Fulton These are not made by Armscorp. Although a cast receiver, it’s by far the closest to be USGI spec. compared to others. Very minor fitting if any, is needed for parts to fit as they should. USGI & commercial barrels have headspaced on all Fultons receivers I’ve worked on. Can’t say that about LRB or others. 7.62mm receivers. Early receivers had serious problems. Only 5 out of the 26 I’ve seen were good enough to build on. Unless they have proven to be better now, I would pass on them. Smith Ent. I’ve built almost a dozen rifles on these so far. The 1rst 4 needed serious fitting & I had to machine the mag wells so USGI magazines would fit like they should because mags wouldn’t go in. I just finished a build on a later Smith Ent. receiver & it was near perfect. Might be a crap shoot getting a good one or maybe they finally took QC seriously. Hopefully they will be this good in the future. If you’re a poker player you could try your luck. I had the exact same thing happen on a brand new out of box Surefire Flashlights M900V last year. There were two, both new direct from Surefire; one strobe’d, one didn’t. I called Surefire Flashlights (as M900V isn’t supposed to strobe) and told them what happened. They sent me a return number I sent it in and they fixed it. IFBBjuicemonkey

The upper has had about 1800 rounds fired through it, but the scope was not on the rifle, and has not even been zeroed to it. I’ve shot about 100 rounds since installing the NM trigger. It’s a great shooter, quite accurate, and ultra reliable. I have created a series improved 25M zero targets (based of the standard US Military 25M zero target) that will allow the shooter to zero for 50/200M, 100M, and 300M using a 25yd/M range. The different targets are calibrated for both 20″ full length service rifles and also 14.5″ / 16″ AR15s with the shorter sight radius. The bold centering lines should assist in acquiring the good sight picture required for zeroing. These are also in different colors in addition to the traditional black for your individual preference. Trajectories used were an average of M193 and M855 ballistic data. This should get most shooters in the right area. As you know, this can change with different loads. 65-year-old Jerry Springer’s storage business in Tulsa, Okla. has been the target of at least a dozen burglaries since January 2012, when he underwent triple bypass surgery. So when Springer was alerted by a friend to yet another break-in at the facility, he grabbed a gun and went to investigate. When Springer arrived he spotted a pair of thieves pilfering cables and auto parts from one of the storage trailers. Springer confronted the criminals and held them at gunpoint until police could arrive. In an interview with local media, Springer made clear how upset he was with the thieves, stating, “I’ve earned what I got and I’m tired of people stealing it.” Springer went on to warn any would-be burglars, saying, “When they get in that yard I think it’s second degree, that’s 2 to 4 years; if you get caught by me that may be an eternity.”
Fifth-grader finds gun, follows NRA Eddie Eagle procedure
A very well-informed fifth-grader at Oak Grove Elementary School reportedly followed procedure when he found a loaded gun on the playground at the school Friday. Officials have not released the name of the student, but are planning on presenting a certificate to him Monday, according to Bob Gault, media relations coordinator for the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Jay Lawson, the school’s Resource Officer teaches students throughout the year by using the “Eddie Eagle” safety program. Lawson had taught the students at the school to recognize danger through a “GunSafe” presentation, documented in the Eddie Eagle program which is associated with the National Rifle Association. Just after 10 a.m. Friday, the fifth-grader found a loaded .22-magnum pistol laying near the swing set area on the playground at the school.

Today, Governor Mary Fallin signed Senate Bill 1743 into law. Also known as the “Landowner’s Hunting Freedom Act,” this bill received the overwhelming, bi-partisan support of the Oklahoma Senate and House with final votes of 44 to 0 and 78 to 3, respectively. SB 1743 allows Oklahoma landowners and their guests to use lawfully possessed suppressors (also referred to as silencers) on firearms for hunting as of November 1, 2012.
