A big factor is durability. For $100 more than he spent on the two NC Star scopes he could have bought an Aimpoint PRO. Which would be leaps and bounds better than the two NC Star scopes. Another factor is can the Rifle Scope return to zero. A common with lesser quality scopes is that when you dial in some windage or elevation it will not return to your original zero. You can check this by doing a box test. I own several scopes that are used by the military, but that is not the reason I bought them. I bought them because are high quality optics and most likely will last me a very long time. Personally I would rather have good iron sights than a so so scope. gee223
